Du Fu Poems: Longing for Li Bai –

A Chinese poet of the Tang Dynasty, Li Bai (also known as Li Po, Li Pai, Li T’ai-po, and Li T’ai-pai) was probably born in central Asia and grew up in Sichuan Province.

Longing for Li Bai

I have not seen Li Bai for long,

Men of the world have done him wrong.

He can’t but pretend to be mad.

How could a talent turn so sad!

At once he can write line on line;

What he asks for is cups of wine.

Come back to read, oh! in the height,

Let age snow on your head hair white!

The poem “Longing for Li Bai ” is a poem in five lines written by Du Fu, a poet of the Tang Dynasty. The first couplet of the poem is about the author’s long absence from his friend Li Bai, expressing his strong desire to see him and his sympathy and pity for him. The first couplet of the poem expresses the author’s strong desire to see Li Bai and his pity and sympathy. The neck couplet draws out the image of a romantic poet who is drifting in and out of poetry and wine, and expresses in a deeper way the sentiment of missing his dear friend. The last couplet is about the author’s blessing to Li Bai and his longing to meet with his friend again. The most distinctive feature of this poem is that it is written in a straightforward manner without any pretence of ornamentation, and the whole poem is written in the style of pouring out one’s heart without any ornamentation of scenery and objects, and with deep emotion, which also generates great artistic influence.
