Qin Guan Poem: A Thousand Autumns –

Qin Guan –

A Thousand Autumns
Qin Guan

Beyond the sandbar by the waterside,
Out of the town the spring chill begins to subside.
The flowers’ shadows running riot,
The orioles’ warble breaks the quiet.
Lonely, I drink few cups of wine,
My belt loosens, for friends I pine.
But where are they?
In vain clouds gather up at the end of the day.
I still remember our Western Pool’s rendezvous:
Together with our cabs herons and egrets flew.
Where we stood hand in hand,
Who still stays in that land?
My dream can’t fly to sunny place;
The mirror shows my wrinkled face.
Away spring’s sped;
My grief looks like a sea of falling petals red.

注释:
The poet writes this lyric about his rendezvous at the Western Pool in the capital.

Qin Guan –

Qianqiu Sui, Beyond the Sand by the Water, was written by Qin Guan, a poet in the Song Dynasty. Literally, this word runs through the whole article with “spring”, “this spring” and “the past spring”, “prosperous spring” to “late spring”, and integrates different time and space, past prosperity, present decline and other feelings in the span of time to create a complete artistic conception. In essence, the word also interweaves the political unhappiness and love frustration of the past and the present, or talk about the disillusionment of political ideals, or say that the individual looks old, chants repeatedly, lingering and sad, and finally ends up in the endless “sorrow”, which is extremely sad and makes people cry. The whole poem is composed of feelings, which are gentle and restrained on the outside but extremely intense on the inside. It can quite summarize Qin Guan’s life experience and personality characteristics, and can be called a work of spirit.
